Denise Butler’s Success Story

Hi, my name is Denise Butler.  I am 27 and a mom of 2 beautiful children.  I had an open RNY on March 22, 2001 in Wichita Falls, TX.  A month before surgery I learned that I had reached 323 pounds!  With the medical problems I had, I just couldn't think of any other way to lose that much weight! 

When I first heard about the surgery I was very skeptical.  I had heard of many older people who had their stomach’s "stapled" and how bad off they were.  But than I met Dr.Warnock!  He was so patient and kind.  He actually understood how hard it is to live in a fat body!  I have always had a weight problem, so for me I really expected him to just not care.  I have tried every diet since I was 10 and instead of losing I always ended up higher than when I started!  Well, Dr. Warnock took the time to truly explain the whole procedure and I was impressed.  Than he told me to go home and pray about it and talk to a few people he gave me as references, who have had the surgery.  Their stories helped convince me.  I really had an easy surgery and recovery.  I did fine.  I have had a few set backs but nothing to make me ever wish I hadn’t had the surgery.

Now, 6 1/2 months since my surgery, I have lost 120 pounds!  I was wearing a 28/30 and now can wear 14/16 tops and16/18 skirts!  I never ever thought I could lose this much weight!  I was very asthmatic prior to surgery and I haven't had one attack since the surgery.  I also had tachycardia and since the surgery my relaxing pulse went from 106 to 76.  It seems like a miracle how much better I feel!  The hardest part for me is to not speak up about the surgery when I see others, who are suffering from obesity and can't help themselves.  I want everyone to have this freedom that I have found!  I thank the good Lord for helping me to find Dr. Warnock who offered me a new life!
